I’m Anamaria Dickerson, author of Coffee and Curiosity.
I started this blog as a creative outlet, if you will, outside my previous professional writing experience. But, since I traded in my interviewing skills for processing client’s requests to withdraw money from their annuity, this outlet of mine was put on the back burner.
In June 2018, I left my full-time position as a reporter at The Argus-Press. Deep down, I knew it was a time for me to break up with journalism, even though it had long, and well still technically is, been my passion. But, truth be told, I was becoming burned out and long to be living and working closer to home so I made the transition to the corporate world in November of that year. I accepted a position as an Operations Associate at Jackson National Life.
Since mid-March, 2020, my life along with the other millions of people across the globe, turned upside down due to the Covid-19, or coronavirus, pandemic. All of our lives has transformed. I am thankful for the ability to work from home and continue my job, but, life working at home has been an adjustment, and such, I have needed to find my passion again for blogging as in the past writing out what I’ve been feeling has been very therapeutic, so I am going to try my best to keep this update to date more.
Anyway, before, I worked at The Argue-Press, I worked as a reporter at The Chronicle-Tribune in Marion, Indiana from June 2016 until January 2017.
I attended Central Michigan University from 2009-2014, where I earned a bachelor of science degree in news-editorial journalism. During my time at CMU, I worked as a reporter for Central Michigan Life and as a writer for Grand Central Magazine. I was also a member of the Beta Phi chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon, where I served as the public relations chair in fall 2012.
During the summer prior to graduating in August, I worked as an intern at WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan where I learned the ropes of how a TV newsroom operates. I also worked as a reporting intern at HOMTV in Okemos, Michigan from January 2016-May 2016 where I gained additional hands-on experience in broadcast reporting and how to effectively use social media.
On my blog, you’ll find reviews of books, TV shows and movies; lists; my stories about moving; and relationship/heartbreak experiences and advice; among other topics.
If you have a blog, follow me and I’ll be sure to follow you back.
